L-Carvone is a monoterpene ketone naturally found in essential oils of certain plants, best known for its strong minty aroma and flavor. It occurs primarily in spearmint oil (where it is the dominant compound) and in some varieties of caraway seed oil, and is widely used in flavoring, fragrance, food, aromatherapy, and oral care products (toothpaste, mouthwash).
